Veneers for crooked teeth
Sometimes beautiful, healthy teeth end up being shaved backed unnecessarily to be restored with veneers to create the illusion of straight teeth.
We at Extreme Dentistry don’t advocate such harmful practices. If you have good healthy teeth and just need a bit of straightening, Extreme Dentistry offer options like Inman Aligners to straighten your front teeth without losing any healthy tooth structure.
Cosmetic Dentistry FAQs
Most people you meet will notice your smile first, basically making it your introduction – and you know what they say about first impressions? This is why many people dream of a perfect smile and we are here to help you achieve this that. Depending on your oral problem and the condition of your teeth and gums, we mould technology and experience into a package that best suits your needs.
The most popular restorative and cosmetic dental options to improve one’s smiles are:
· Braces
Braces are a traditional orthodontic treatment which is used to correct gaps, misaligned teeth and trouble with your bite. Although more modern, discrete alternatives have been created – braces remain the first in option when it comes to addressing problematic teeth.
· Invisalign
Invisalign is a discrete alternative to braces which uses a series of clear aligners to correct moderate oral problems. The aligners are removable but should be worn at least 22 hours a day in order to see visible results.
· Teeth Whitening
A series of teeth whitening procedures can remove yellow stains on your teeth, giving you a visibly brighter and healthier looking smile.
· Veneers
Oral problems can affect your confidence and porcelain veneers are generally one of the best and most suitable solutions to address concerns with the shape, colour or gaps in your teeth. The artificial implants are made to closely resemble natural teeth and can be placed over teeth which are worn out, discoloured, oddly shaped or even to close small gaps.
Braces are designed to straighten your teeth and correct your bite, in a safe and controlled way. The only time your teeth could be at risk of falling out is if you suffer from an extreme case of gum disease which would typically be brought on as a result of poor dental hygiene. We would never recommend braces if this is the case and your treatment will be monitored to ensure that your teeth and gums are healthy during the course of your treatment.
Food particles can get stuck in your teeth and braces and it is sometimes a challenge to remove them. Flossing, brushing and rinsing regularly play a big role in preventing gum disease while you have braces. The first warning signs of gum disease would be bleeding and inflamed gums and as the disease progresses you may even notice teeth discolouration. To prevent gum disease during orthodontic treatment:
- Floss once a day
- Brush twice a day
- Rinse your mouth after every meal
- Do not miss your orthodontic appointments
We will only advice that you extract teeth if it is absolutely necessary.
Reasons for extraction include:
- If you have extra teeth that cause crowding in your mouth, restricting movement
- To correct an overbite or underbite
- To fix protruding teeth
